Wings of Honor Project Update

The Estimated Cost to Completion remains $3.1M. To date we are about 1/3 the way through the funding with donations and pledges received. The committee has made the decision to break the project into two phases:

  • Phase 1:  Landscaping, compass rose fabrication and installation, bronze plaques (and cast Globe & Anchor seal for center of compass rose) and Stone Benches (fabrication & installation), full engineering drawings of support structure and fabricated glass wings.

  • Phase 2: Installation of support structure, fabricate, delivery and installation of glass

Breaking the project into 2 phases allows us to make some tangible progress and we believe having phase 1 completed will add additional incentive move to completion.

Next year is the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII in the Pacific. We want to have this monument established to honor all who served at MCAS Santa Barbara, and all our WWII veterans.

More information will be published as we make progress on Phase 1.
